Anchor Bar

the wings weren’t bad. They were good. Maybe even slightly better than good. But for a place that’s claim to fame is to be the first place to have invented wings, it disappoints. Being the first is great, but you need to continue developing and improving your craft. For any other bar or restaurant I think this would have been a 6 cuz the sauce was pretty good but the crispness and wing texture was just lacking.

First wings in Buffalo! These were alright. I had one flat that was crispy, but the rest were a bit pale and not crispy at all, so the consistency wasn’t the best. However, the wings were juicy and well seasoned, which was a plus. The buffalo sauce had a creamy texture and a mild heat, although it wasn’t acidic, which was a little strange. The blue cheese dip was homemade and had nice chunks, but the intense blue cheese flavor was a bit overwhelming.

While Anchor Bar is the starting point and anchor of the Buffalo Wing world, it would seem that others have been able to build up on the initial recipe. The wing was medium fried with an average amount of sauce. The medium sauce left a slight zest upon my tongue. Yet, while I liked them and enjoyed my time there, I can't bring myself to anchor my ship to that shore.
